“O GOD, ever bless, you have given me the night for rest and the day for work and service. Grant that the refreshment from last night’s sleep may now be used for your greater glory in the life of the day ahead. Do not let it produce laziness in me, but instead let it encourage more diligent action and willing obedience.
Teach me, O God, to use all the circumstances of my life today to nurture the fruits of the Spirit rather than fruits of sin.
Let me use disappointment as material for patience;
Let me use success as material for thankfulness;
Let me use anxiety as material for perseverance;
Let me use danger as material for courage;
Let me use criticism as material for learning;
Let me use praise as material for humility;
Let me use pleasures as material for self-control;
Let me use pain as material for endurance.
O Lord Jesus Christ, for the sake of the joy that lay ahead, you endured the cross, despising its shame, and are now seated at the right hand of God; help me to think of you, who endured such opposition from sinners, so that I may not be weary and faint in my mind.
But that toil shall make thee
Some day all Mine own,
And the end of sorrow
Shall be near My throne.
Holy God, I remember before you all my friends and family, especially _____ and _____, asking that in your great love you would keep them free from sin, guiding all their deeds today in accordance with your most perfect will. Amen.”
