Acts 4:13 says, “When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.”
When reading the Word of God we quickly realize that God has called Ordinary Men and Women throughout history to advance the Kingdom. God is still doing just this today, and we exist to lead ordinary women to the realization that God wants to use them in extraordinary ways today.
The name Ordinary Women is not an excuse or a profession of mediocrity. Instead it is a war cry—a realization of the fact that God uses us despite our past, our failures, and our shortcomings. It is a profession of our faith in God’s willingness and desire to use our lives to advance His Kingdom. It is putting our excuses aside with a focus on His power in and through our lives, versus a focus on our own abilities.
We are individual groups of Ordinary Women. Together we form a much larger group that is focused on allowing the Lord to work in our lives to advance His Kingdom and Church through discipleship.
CORE VALUES
Intimacy
We prioritize our relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, knowing that our identity can only be found through intimacy with Him. Everything in our Christian walk flows from our time spent with the Lord. We long to grow in intimacy with Jesus, making our faith personal. Intimacy with Jesus births passion that fuels our faith.
Intentional Relationships
Instead of individualism and isolation, we commit to sacrificing our time and schedules to invest in others, building intentional relationships anchored in the Lord. We do what we say, we make time for others, and we maintain teachable hearts. We understand that our lives matter because other’s lives depend on us.
Multiplication
We commit to being disciples who make disciples, focused on putting our faith into action. We act out of calling from a place of intimacy and passion produced in time spent with God. First we sit and listen, then we go and do. While Ordinary Women groups are designed to strengthen and empower the believer, we do not exist to create a “holy huddle.” On the contrary, OW believes that as each participant becomes fully alive in her individual walk with Christ, from this place of intimacy he will be empowered to reach others around her who are lost. So while Multiplication within Ordinary Women groups will be specific to believers participating in intentional discipleship, the result will, and must be, a spreading of the Gospel among the communities in which we live and the people with whom we interact daily. The ultimate goal is that each woman will bring new believers into the OW process and teach them to be disciples who make disciples.
